Aitken Spence Printing is a fully owned subsidiary of Aitken Spence PLC, a diversified business conglomerate and one of the few blue-chip companies in Sri Lanka. Aitken Spence boasts a prodigious history spanning over 150 years since incorporated in the coastal city of Galle by two Scottish nationals after whose namesake the company is still going strong.
With this reputation, the Company’s ethos backed by an illustrious history, Aitken Spence printing stands tall in comparison to its competitors. We continue to strive to add value to our customers through every step of our business processes while making a conscious effort to be environmentally friendly along the way.
We are a total printing solutions provider and are considered the pinnacle of the printing & packaging industry in Sri Lanka. We take pride in offering seamless services to our local and international customers. The Company is one of the few in Sri Lanka and in the region to offer the latest and most sophisticated value additions under one roof.
Aitken Spence Printing began operations in Galle in 1955, when the Company made a decision to do in-house printing, primarily with the aim of producing stationery for its shipping business. Since its arrival in Colombo in the early sixties, Aitken Spence Printing has managed to be the leader in commercial printing. The organization quickly expanded beyond just printing stationery and moved into publication printing for both the private and government sector. The Company also enhanced its product range by starting a packaging business, catering to state-controlled exports of the country’s chief commodity, tea.
Expansion and diversifications along with a host of different value additions have enabled the organization to offer print and packaging on par with global standards. This, in turn, has paved the way for Aitken Spence Printing to earn a reputation as the most technically sound and well-equipped printer in the country.
Today, Aitken Spence Printing is the preferred printer/ print packaging partner for most leading brands locally and globally. In this current location Mawaramandiya, a location 20 kilometers away from the City of Colombo, Aitken Spence Printing turned a rural village into a global village with many world-leading brands patronizing the plant with regular business. With this growth, the Company increased its capacity by over 150% and even today it is the market leader in quality, value additions, and lead times, factors that keep Aitken Spence Printing going strong, along with the organization’s dynamic logistical systems and willingness to incorporate modern business practices. Aitken Spence Printing is the first Carbon Neutral Printer in the region, with LEED Gold certification and ISO 9001: 2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001: 2018, SMETA, and FSC standards.
